This two-day course is designed to help prepare individuals who aspire to work as safety professionals within BC’s construction industry. Specifically, it provides the orientation and training needed to enable participants to complete the provincial examination required to acquire NCSO® or NHSA™ certification in BC.

The CSLA course is designed for owners, supervisors, joint health and safety committee members, safety administrators and those pursuing the National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO™) designation. Although there are no mandated prerequisites for the course, participants are expected to undertake some pre-reading (details provided upon registration). Completion of the online BCCSA PHSM course is also an asset for participants.

After taking this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and explain relevant components of BC’s OHS legislation.
  • Explain the value of codes, bylaws, authority and associations in BC.
  • Identify communication barriers and solutions in the workplace.
  • Learn, discuss and practice writing technical communications.
  • Analyze injury data using the WorkSafeBC incident calculator.

  • Please note that the BCCSA does not provide lunch for course participants. Remember to bring your lunch.
