This two-day course introduces the basic concepts of health and safety and is designed to provide participants with tools to integrate into their daily activities.

No pre-requisite training is required. The course materials are geared toward supervisory positions. However, the material and information will benefit others who are responsible for health and safety in their organizations.

After taking this course, participants will be able to:

 

  • Build health and safety into their everyday planning, create and promote a safe work environment where people can work safely, and help make a lasting contribution to the reduction of incidents in the industry.
  • Conduct effective safety inspections, correct hazards and help resist pressures that can compromise safety standards.
  • Understand when to investigate incidents and which steps to follow, how to interview people effectively, and what conclusions to present in final investigation reports.
  • Focus on the responsibility to provide workers the training needed to carry out their work properly and maintain high safety standards on the worksite.

Your role is to contribute to the learning environment and assist others in their learning journey, just as they are expected to support your learning as well.

  • Please note that the BCCSA does not provide lunch for course participants. Remember to bring your lunch.
  • You are required to show a government-issued photo ID.

CERTIFICATE

A completion certificate will be awarded and e-mailed to the participant following the course. An LSE® Certificate of Completion is required for the NCSO® and NHSA™ program.
